Retention charts invite drama. A single soft week can dominate a meeting if nobody has agreed what “healthy” looks like for that product stage.
In a Cohort Reading Sprint we set the window and the cohort definition up front, then ask only three questions: where do users stall, who returns, and which product change is worth trying first.
We separate seasonal noise from structural drop-off. If a cohort is thin, we say so — thin cohorts do not support bold claims.
The output is not a thicker dashboard. It is a short experiment list with owners and a date for the next reading.
